American Racing Press Association

ARPA members have been capturing the spirit of motor racing since 1971 by shooting some of the most memorable images and telling the stories of mankind’s most exciting sport. From Formula 1 to NASCAR, the photographers and writers of ARPA have been on the front lines so the rest of us can get a taste of the passion.

The front lines are a dangerous place even today, but in the early days of auto racing, the safety of photographers was an afterthought to race organizers. In 1971, a group of racing journalists banded together to protect themselves with insurance coverage during events.

What began as a practical solution to a difficult problem became one of the most respected organizations in motor sports.
